We finally have gay marriage in Sweden. Starting may first, the law of marriage will be entirely gender neutral[1]. That it's taken this long is a damn shame, but at least it finally went through. The ruling coalition bypassed the christian party and allied with the opposition. The Church of Sweden will decide how they want to deal with the whole thing this fall, so I guess we'll see then if they choose to retain the right to perform legally binding marriages or not.
I'm not so happy about what I've heard of the proposed new system for student loans, but I'll reserve full judgement until I've read more about it.
[1] We've had civil partnership for gays for a while, this upgrades the name, to make no distinction between people based on their sexuality, which I think is a great thing.
