Until I saw this I had kind of forgotten how awesome He-Man was, and now I'm a little bummed I never knew about She-Ra when I was a kid. I used to read the He-Man comis when I was in kindergarden and primary school, and I thought they were super cool [1]. My favourite characters were Zoar and Evil-Lyn, because they were women and really cool, and could do magic. Teela was allright, but she didn't do that much and iirc got rescued a lot. I even had a really cool Zoar action figure, which was awesome. It had wings that could flip open and a magic staff, I can't seem to find any pictures of the actual figure, but it looked like this http://www.geocities.com/obsession_seraglio/images/oldsorceress.jpg

If had known about She-Ra I'm sure I would have loved her, she seemed pretty kick-ass in the christmas special, even if her horse was way too pink and not as cool as a green tiger.

[1] I also read Transformers and Ninja Turtles [2], and watched a few episodes of the He-Man TV-show. You could get them on Video (not on TV though as far as I know), but renting videos was expensive and something I was only allowed very occasionally. I also remember enjoying the animate Ewoks show, Dinoriders, and something sort of He-Man like about a guy who was an astronaut or something and accidentaly got sucked through a black hole. Iirc the plnet he ended up on was a bit Conan-the-barbarian-like and he ran around in boots and furry speedos... If anyone knows what show this was, let me know - it's been driving me crazy for years. Edit: I found it! God bless YouTube. Apparently it was called Blackstar (I knew was something with black in the title):

When I was about 10 or 11, something we called "america socks", which was like socks with built-in leg-warmers that you scrunched around your ankles [3], was the thing to wear. In secret I'd wear mine pulled up to the knee and just folded down a couple of inches at the top, to make it look like I was wearing boots like He-Man's boots, with the fur at the top. I remember they were a lot more expensive than regular socks, so I had to beg my mum to get some. She wasn't very sympathetic to the whole fashion thing, but iirc I did get two or three pairs eventually.

[2] This was not popular with the boys in my class - they thought I was getting girl cooties on all their cool heroes. On one memorable occation a little boy almost tearfully shouted at me that those comics were only allowed for boys! He was pretty desperate. Probably didn't help that most likely he couldn't read either, while I could.

[3] I had dark (but bright) green america socks that I wore proudly with my bright red basket-ball shoes (like converse sneakers), white bermuda shorts with black spots and a white/blue/turqoise vertically striped tee with cap sleeves. I was so damn stylish.
