I've been playing with the Carbon Footprint calculator and come to the conclusion that reaching the world target is just not going to happen with current tech.
Given my current living situation and electricy usage I would need to never fly, never drive, never take a bus or train, eat no meat (I'm allowed fish), and only do zero carbon activities like walking and biking in my spare time. That's plainly never going to happen. For one, I can't envision ever managing to live within walking or biking distance of all of my relatives, my job, every store I might ever need to visit, my bfs job*, my bf's relatives, potential children's daycare/school etc all at the same time. Also, not being allowed cinema, restaurants or ever travelling anywhere would pretty much make life hellishly boring. Probably book production generates carbon too... etc.
What we need is quite plainly better ways of producing energy.
* Cause he'd have to reduce his footprint the same way...
