This is a word that should be used much more often. Studmuffin. Awesome.

I should make some sort of awesome word list, it'd have "studmuffin", and "schmoopy", and "shlepp"...what else?

Also, I may be tired, but I found these Cake wrecks unusually hilarious. Possibly because the decor itself is really not that inept, just the reflection skills...

From now on I will consider myself an unsung genious, and no longer feel bad about putting things off.

I choose to ignore the bits about having actual ideas while you procrastinate.

Forget raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Newly laundered sheets, perfectly ripe and crisp carrots, a glass of cold pure water when you're really thirsty - that's the really good stuff.

I have a very high inactivity threshold. By which I mean that I can be very inactive for a very long time before I get sick of it to enough of an extent that I'll change and become more active. I seem to have just crossed it. Or maybe it's just that it's becoming spring, and I'm happier and more at peace than I've been in a long time. Winters do not agree with me.

Anyway, this week I have exercised 4 times, twice today [1]. So far, only strength and flexibility, no stamina, but still, I'm doing something. I have also produced 4500 words of tale, done a bad coloring job on a sketch of a whale, and started seriously with research for my grad thesis. I have filed and polished my fingernails and started taking care of my skin again. I've beaten Super Mario 3, and finished a level on Yoshi's Island that I never thought I'd get through.

All in all, I feel like it's been a pretty good week.

[1] I'm trying to be mindful of the fact that I haven't excersiced regularly since high school, so I'm taking baby steps, and restricting my work outs to beginner excercises in fairly small doses. I'm trying to build a habit, hopefully one I can keep up with once I get back home.

I was at Sephora yesterday, and with my purchase I got this teeny little free sample of bodylotion in a really cute little plastic jar. It smelled really nice, so I figured I'd try it out. It's awesome. Smells great, perfect thickness, and made my skin lovely and soft.

It also costs $28 a bottle (10oz). Which I just can't justify to myself. Sigh.

Someone I was watching on my flist just started using Loudtwitter - and oh boy, that is obnoxious. I held up for two days, then dropped the watch.

I just hope none of my actual friends start loudtwittering, because I'd hate to drop you guys, but I'd also hate to endure the twitters...

A couple of days ago I was buying chowder at Quincy market, and I had barely opened my mouth when the guy behind the counter asked if I was German. That sort of thing used to piss me off, because I didn't want to have an accent. Now it just slightly bugs me, especially when people catch it that fast.

Yesterday someone told me that I have an Irish accent, and she was the second person in a fairly short while to say this. I was there in 2002, so it's been a while, but obviously something lingers. A year or two after I came back, an Irish guy I rendomly met told me I sounded "like home", and a Canadian girl told me I spoke "Limerick Canadian" - ie, Canadian with an Irish accent. So, basically, my accent is a mongrel.

The Canadian accent thing is funny, because I can't hear it. People say there is one, and Americans continually make fun of Canadians for their accents, but I never noticed it when I was there, and have no idea what it would sound like. The person I talked to yesterday said I should be happy about the Irish thing, because at least that's better than a Canadian accent. I just smiled, because I have no idea what she meant...

This is old, so at least the brits among you have probably seen it - but I had to share anyway 'cause it cracked me up. I'd never heard about the Friday Night Project, but it's a sort of talkshow/SNL hybrid thingy apparently. I found it extremely uneven, but some bits were absolutely hilarious. Watch David Tennant's face when they start talking about WhoPorn - the funny starts at 5:40 and goes to about 7:15.

Until I saw this I had kind of forgotten how awesome He-Man was, and now I'm a little bummed I never knew about She-Ra when I was a kid. I used to read the He-Man comis when I was in kindergarden and primary school, and I thought they were super cool [1]. My favourite characters were Zoar and Evil-Lyn, because they were women and really cool, and could do magic. Teela was allright, but she didn't do that much and iirc got rescued a lot. I even had a really cool Zoar action figure, which was awesome. It had wings that could flip open and a magic staff, I can't seem to find any pictures of the actual figure, but it looked like this http://www.geocities.com/obsession_seraglio/images/oldsorceress.jpg

If had known about She-Ra I'm sure I would have loved her, she seemed pretty kick-ass in the christmas special, even if her horse was way too pink and not as cool as a green tiger.

[1] I also read Transformers and Ninja Turtles [2], and watched a few episodes of the He-Man TV-show. You could get them on Video (not on TV though as far as I know), but renting videos was expensive and something I was only allowed very occasionally. I also remember enjoying the animate Ewoks show, Dinoriders, and something sort of He-Man like about a guy who was an astronaut or something and accidentaly got sucked through a black hole. Iirc the plnet he ended up on was a bit Conan-the-barbarian-like and he ran around in boots and furry speedos... If anyone knows what show this was, let me know - it's been driving me crazy for years. Edit: I found it! God bless YouTube. Apparently it was called Blackstar (I knew was something with black in the title):

When I was about 10 or 11, something we called "america socks", which was like socks with built-in leg-warmers that you scrunched around your ankles [3], was the thing to wear. In secret I'd wear mine pulled up to the knee and just folded down a couple of inches at the top, to make it look like I was wearing boots like He-Man's boots, with the fur at the top. I remember they were a lot more expensive than regular socks, so I had to beg my mum to get some. She wasn't very sympathetic to the whole fashion thing, but iirc I did get two or three pairs eventually.

[2] This was not popular with the boys in my class - they thought I was getting girl cooties on all their cool heroes. On one memorable occation a little boy almost tearfully shouted at me that those comics were only allowed for boys! He was pretty desperate. Probably didn't help that most likely he couldn't read either, while I could.

[3] I had dark (but bright) green america socks that I wore proudly with my bright red basket-ball shoes (like converse sneakers), white bermuda shorts with black spots and a white/blue/turqoise vertically striped tee with cap sleeves. I was so damn stylish.
